Past years trips have included Paris and Barcelona, but this year we headed to one of the most iconic cities in the world Rome! The trip started with a fast paced treasure hunt around the city. Dividing into teams, we were given a number of clues that led to various famous sights around the city and the task of getting as many people in our pictures as possible! So, armed with clues and team mascots we set off into the belly of the most legendary city in history. First port of call was a fast and furious tuk tuk race to one of the most impressive sport arenas the world has ever seen, the Colosseum! On arrival we were greeted by a fierce wall of bricks and mortar that in its pomp held a staggering 66,000 people. At this point it was almost sacrilege not to buy a plate of armour and sword and get into the spirit of the ancient Gladiatorial games. Sword in hands we wandered over to the Forum Romanum, an incredible collection of Roman ruins which was once the nucleus of the Roman empire. We then moved on to the Castle Saint Angelo which if anything was more impressive than most of the sights in Rome - it looked fairly tough to breach, especially if you were equipped with just a sword and a horse covered in armour! On we marched to Victor Emmanuel Monument, an incredible feat of architecture which was built as a tribute to the first king of united Italy. After Sarah enjoyed a number of pictures with some Roman legionnaires and Zoe was papped with some more modern day policeman we stumbled down towards the Pantheon which again brought you back into life during the Roman Era. It was at this point we bumped into the other teams and decided a pizza and glass of Prosecco would be the perfect way to catch up on each others stories from the day! Some of the team took the rare opportunity to visit the Vatican Museum and St Peters Square at night, with a fly by visit to the Sistine Chapel which was an awe inspiring sight steeped in history. This was followed by a few beers and pizza in the Piazza Navona, a thriving city square surrounded by Italian pizzerias and gelato shops overlooking the historical Fountain of the Four Rivers. It was an exhausting yet exhilarating weekend of sightseeing, pizza and pasta eating, with a few beers and proseccos in the glorious sun. Our collaborative and people centric culture is underpinned by our team who enjoy regular team building trips as part of our incredible incentive scheme that celebrates individual and team successes. Our bid to become the best company to work for is certainly reaching new heights and with an imminent office move with lots of exciting design plans, we will soon have the capacity to invite even more great people to join our marvellous team! A number of point earning tasks were set out prior to leaving the office at 3:30pm, including a game of invisible twister, serenading a stranger with Whams Last Christmas and pretending to fall asleep in the pub! Even The Stig made an appearance... All of this occurred during a frenzied attempt to hide from the Bosses in as many venues as possible. Once all the teams had been found by the Bosses (made easier by a mole in the teambooo!) it was back to the office to get our glad rags on for a night of yummy food and wine at The Botanist. We were entertained by a magician during the delicious buffet and then partied the night away, with some questionable dance moves from a few of the team! update-285 Tue, 8 Jan 2019 GMT Big Data in Retail - How will it affect the job market? So weve soared through the year of The Cloud, and are now excitedly entering the era of Big Data. Its all over the news at the moment: BIG DATA for BIG BUSINESSES! We know what it is (masses of information gathered and stored somewhere in the ether for safe keeping) and we all know that it is super trendy! But what is the meaning of this new trend and how will it affect the retail industry? update-137 Tue, 25 Feb 2014 GMT Viva Las Vegas! Our Annual Trip Winners were treated to a weeks holiday enjoying the glittering lights of Las Vegas! Starting with a relaxing business class flight, the team were well rested and eager to take in the dramatic city sights before settling into their rooms at the MGM Grand. update-282 Tue, 8 Jan 2019 GMT Our Modern Day Robin Hood... As Im sure you have figured out by now, we love a good old team building experience here at People Source, and relish in the opportunity to try something new! For this months incentive our winning team took to the shooting range for an afternoon practising their archery skills - not as easy as it looks apparently... After a lesson in handling a bow and arrow, assuming the correct stance and making sure the arrow pointed in the right direction, the team were soon hitting targets and proving themselves worthy of the Michelin star meal at The Pony Trap that followed. update-288 Tue, 8 Jan 2019 GMT People Source Promotions 2013 has been another year of industry awards for People Source. We appeared in theRecruiter International Top 250, appeared for the 2nd consecutive year in the Recruiter Top 100 and for the first time Recruiter Fast 50. update-133 Mon, 16 Dec 2013 GMT People Source Included in Recruitment International Top 250 This year, People Source are honoured to have been included in the Recruitment International Top 250. The RI Top 250 Report is an annual publication that lists recruitment agencies ranked by their UK growth and turnover. Over the years, our consistent growth has been recognised across the industry with a number of awards including The Recruiter Top 100 and Fast 50, and the Sunday Times Fast Track Award, so we are very proud to have been acknowledged for this new award! update-130 Fri, 23 Sep 2016 GMT Volunteer day at Secret World A team from People Source spent the day with Secret World Wildlife Rescue centre yesterday, volunteering their time and energy to assist with the building of hedgehog pens, a project that has not had the man power to implement since the initial idea formed 2 years ago. Secret World is a charity that we are very passionate about. Their work has helped many injured wildlife animals that our MD Jason Baker has come across on his drive home, and does in fact help over 5500 animals per year. Alongside their rescue and recovery efforts, Secret World takes an active role by opening its doors to the public 5 times a year, visiting schools, providing wildlife rescue training, running development courses for veterinary professionals and by working with colleges and other training establishments. One of their resident badgers, Lunar, recently starred in the BBC 2 programme The Burrowers, and we were really lucky to get to see her as part of our tour of the centre, which also included hanging out with Polly the resident Red Deer, her best mate Emu the Emu, some beautiful owls, a family of resident foxes who were incredibly friendly, and of course the little hedgehogs whos homes we were building! At People Source we are not shy about team building, it gives us a chance to get to know each other better, to develop stronger relationships and to have some fun! We toughed it out in the mud and the rain to build new hedgehog pens that have unfortunately been on the backburner for Secret World due to more urgent projects happening. We were so happy to be able to help, and after a day of hammering, drilling, digging and painting we were getting closer to achieving brand new separate pens for rescue hedgehogs to rehabilitate before being released into the wild. They are very territorial and dont like to share much! We were surprised by how much work goes into the wildlife centre, around 50 people per day volunteer at Secret World, all supporting the centre in many different roles, yet they dont have the funding for a full time vet onsite (dont worry, they are very close to a local vet who comes to help!). In fact, there arent enough appropriately qualified vets in the UK to confidently treat British wildlife, as most are focussed on domestic pets. Secret World has big plans to build a teaching hospital to increase veterinary skills to cope with the rising demand for wildlife rescue and care. They also aim to build a Learning Centre aimed at teaching young children about wildlife and building an understanding of their habitat. These projects are going to cost a phenomenal 4million to build. No easy task! This is why every bit of support they can get is vital, and every penny counts for this wonderful charity who we look forward to supporting. They rely purely on donations, and receive no financial support from the Government. To help Secret Worlds exciting plans become a reality please visit our Just Giving page Here is some feedback from the team on their day at Secret World: What a great day! I cant believe the amazing work this charity is doing and the effort everyone involved makes every single day. They are making a real difference to the local wildlife and genuinely improving the survival chances of thousands of animals. The real eye-opener is that with a little help they could do so much more! Richard Hales, Senior Recruiter Being able to share in the creation of a habitat that will have such a significant effect on the welfare of the hedgehogs and seeing the project nearly reach completion gave me a tremendous sense of achievement. I would be more than happy to undertake such a day again in the future. Matt Churchill, Principal Consultant I had a great day, being outdoors, working with wood, building things, knowing I was doing something valuable. I achieved a sense of well-being through being a big part of helping Secret World to build their Hedgehog pens. Matt Hyatt, Managing Consultant I wanted to give my time and do something for charity that I have not done before instead of just giving money. I loved the feel of the togetherness and community spirit of the people who worked there. Simon Gukhool, Senior Consultant update-107 Tue, 25 Feb 2014 GMT People Source raise over £2500 for charity It was a sunny afternoon in the office, back in early March. We were discussing our fundraising plans for the summer and all of a sudden, one member of the team (whose name will not be mentioned for his own safety) came up with the brilliant idea to participate in this years Tough Mudder event. It will be fun! he insisted. The office went quiet for 5 minutes whilst everybody checked out the website and contemplated whether their limbs would be up for the 12 mile long obstacle course designed exclusively by the Special Forces. Electro Shock Therapy, Mud Mile, Arctic Enema and Devils Beard are just a few of the trademark obstacles that the Mudders must face, ones that probably put off 75% of the office participating (those ones took the less physically exerting challenge volunteering with Kids over the summer, you can find out more about that here). 9 of our toughest team members werent put off at all and spent the rest of the summer training hard for what was probably one of the most challenging experiences they have faced to date. We are incredibly proud of Team Mudder, and especially so after they raised over 2500 for our charities, Kids, Secret World and The Princes Trust. A huge achievement, one that has left them all a bit bruised and aching this morning, but feeling triumphant and victorious after beating one of the toughest obstacle courses known to man! update-106 Tue, 25 Feb 2014 GMT People Source in Barcelona What a coincidence that this week is the birthday anniversary of one of historys most influential artists, after People Source spent the weekend on a team building exercise in Antoni Gaudis beautiful home city of Barcelona. The words team building can sometimes make you think of making towers with straws and blue tack, some kind of awkward trust activity involving falling into your colleagues arms, or sharing an embarrassing story around the boardroom table - not quite our idea of fun! In a growing business it can be easy to lose that vibrancy and energy of a boutique style company. With our values being so deeply set in collaboration and working together, it is important that we maintain the ardent culture that underpins our business. In true People Source style, we took to the air and made our way to the cultural haven to enjoy an exciting team building treasure hunt that saw the group visiting iconic monuments, historic buildings, famous parks and of course sandy beaches! Spending the weekend together as an entire business (well nearly, Robbie Williams was also touring this weekend, understandably one of the team couldnt make it.!) was a perfect way to mix up the teams and get to know each other a bit better. We first went away as a whole office last year when the team visited Paris as special treat for the companys 10 year anniversary. Jason Baker (our MD) was so impressed with the team building on this trip, and the effect it had on motivation, that he set a target in January for the company to go away again. I set a target that I thought we would reach by around August so we could go away at the end of the year. Everyone was so bought in to the incentive that we hit that target the very next month! We got to visit Barcelona at the perfect time of the year and its no coincidence that its also been our best month ever Arriving in the bustling city on Saturday afternoon to blue skies and the smell of tapas was the start of a whirlwind of activities. After dropping our bags off at our typically classic neo gothic style hotel in the iconic Placa Catalunya, we split into teams and began a treasure hunt around the city which involved re-enacting The Bourne Identity around Passeig del Born, creating our very own cubist style concept outside of the Picasso Museum, interacting with the weird and wonderful street performers on Las Ramblas, and trying to capture as many people as possible in one photograph (won by Nick Snellings team, who managed to get at least 100 people in their picture at the National Art Museum of Catalonia). The day was packed full of bizarre antics including Matt Churchills team who ended up at a wedding, Jamess gang getting musical and joining a street band, Grahams team splashing around in the biggest fountain in the city, Mels team who enjoyed a cheese ice cream, and Matt Wylies team who bought an octopus that ended up on the head of one of his team members! We all came together at the Magic Fountain which was our final meeting point after an exhausting scramble around the city. Our aching legs and tired feet didnt deter us though. After a quick freshen up and a drink by the pool we headed down to Placa Reial for pitchers of sangria and some traditional Spanish tapas to fill our bellies before dancing the night away at one of the clubs on the beach. A perfect way to watch some of the Senior Consultants throw some shapes on the dance floor! Sunday was a free day for the Sourcers to spend some time taking in the city, with a few people visiting Parc Guell, taking in Las Ramblas, checking out the awe inspiring Sagrada Familia, doing a bit of designer shopping, and of course chilling out on the beach! There are a lot of tanned faces in the office this week, and the occasional outburst of laughter when a funny story or an embarrassing photograph is shared. Everybody is feeling motivated, happy, sun kissed and aching all over from all the walking around successful team building event and a great way to start the summer! Check out more pics on Facebookor Pinterest update-97 Tue, 25 Feb 2014 GMT It’s an exciting time to work in the eHealth arena For how long has the NHS been utterly confused by NPfIT? Over the last few years, weve seen a complete reversal of opinions, with Trusts being advised that a national one size fits all approach will best fit the NHSs requirements through to a local approach being considered. update-84 Thu, 4 Apr 2013 GMT The People behind e-healthcare e-Healthcare is one of People Sources key business sectors and we recognise that the world of technology is moving faster every day and that its the people behind the technology that are most important to its continuous development update-79 Fri, 15 Mar 2013 GMT Predictions for Management Consultancy in 2013 I lead the Key Partnerships Division at People Source, which focuses on the recruitment of highly skilled consultants and executives. The awards, which were held on the 25th October 2012 celebrated excellence in recruitment and inspirational work carried out across the recruitment industry, the RECs Institute of Recruitment Professionals Awards (IRPs) are the most prestigious recognition an individual or company can receive. Does it matter? update-13 Thu, 20 Feb 2014 GMT Optimise yourself- online recruitment Over the last few years there has been a gradual decline in the use of traditional recruitment methods. Recruiters are spending less and less time on the phones and more and more on social media websites like LinkedIn, Twitter and even Facebook. Because there is so much talent online now, if you're not optimised you'll be left behind. update-12 Tue, 30 Oct 2012 GMT Social Recruitment The recruitment industry has always embraced change and innovation. When your core business is dealing with something that is ever evolving (i.e. people) then, you have to adapt to survive. If you had asked anyone 25 years ago where would technology take us they would have said that wed have helper robots in every house and perhaps some of them would have thought wed all have Hover-boards like Marty McFly or talking cars like Kitt (I suppose there are a few talking cars about). None of these things would have particularly impacted onrecruitment. update-27 Sat, 10 Nov 2012 GMT MD of People Source highly commended at IoD awards Our very own Jason Baker was highly commended in the category for Young Director of the year at the IoD awards held on the 30th May 2012. Jasons ethos defines how People Source does business. Its all about quality, quality of service for our candidates and clients, hiring quality staff to work at People Source and treating them in a quality way. People Source started in a small 3 man office above a builders yard in Bedminster, Bristol. 10 yrs later People Source employs over 40 people in offices near the waterfront in Bristol and has twice appeared in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100. update-54 Sat, 10 Nov 2012 GMT
