People Source announce charity of the year 2015

Technology Recruiter People Source has announced that they will be supporting Action for Children for a 2nd year running. The IT recruitment consultancy based in Bristol are on the board for Byte Night South West, a national ‘sleep out’ event for the technology industry which raised over £1.1m for the children’s charity in 2014. Action for Children is one of the UK’s oldest children’s charities and supports young people who are vulnerable or homeless. The aim of Byte Night is to gather like-minded people from the technology sector to fundraise, volunteer, and raise awareness of the support that Action for Children offer.

Last year People Source raised over £2600 for the charity through a number of sponsored events, and were a key sponsor for the South West event. They also spent a night in sleeping bags in the cold and rain at the annual Byte Night ‘sleep out’ which brought over 120 people from across the South West together and raised over £60,000 in total. The event, which took place in numerous cities across the UK on the same date and has been running for 17 years, saw over 1200 people sleep out.

Matt Hyatt, Principal Recruitment Consultant at People Source said: “The event was fantastic – fun packed but humbling. Seeing how the charity helped one of the young people out of a really tough situation was inspiring and really brought home the reality of some of the issues our young people face today, especially in a world where jobs are becoming more and more scarce. I am honoured to have been part of the inaugural South West event and can’t wait to take part again this year”.

Laurena Di Bello, fundraising manager at Action for Children said: “We are delighted that People Source is again supporting Byte Night South West – it’s a special event that makes a positive difference to huge numbers of vulnerable young people across the region. All children and young people should have a safe place to call home – they shouldn’t be sofa surfing or staying in B&Bs, and they certainly shouldn’t be living on the streets. We urge other companies to sign up for Byte Night 2015 and help fight youth homelessness.”

People Source are looking for companies who would like to join the event which will take place on Friday 2nd October, for more information contact Marketing Manager Ria Davidson on 0117 922 7000.
