For how long has the NHS been utterly confused by NPfIT?  Over the last few years, we’ve seen a complete reversal of opinions, with Trusts being advised that a national “one size fits all” approach will best fit the NHS’s requirements through to a local approach being considered.

Finally, FINALLY, it seems that the National Programme has died a death and ‘some’ additional funding is being released for Trusts to procure an alternative system altogether.

Beyond the demise of NPfIT there are other major changes ahead. The National PACS contracts have drawn to an end with numerous trusts combining to put together collaborative contracts and many of the smaller suppliers, with innovative products, having great success. Vender Neutral Archive’s (VNA) solutions and the increasing insistence upon DICOM standards and adoption of IHE profiles are just some of the major changes in the Imaging Space.

There are frameworks concluding across London and the South, groups of Trusts collaborating to procure and individual Trusts moving from the lengthy OJEU procurements to deployment for anything from standalone clinical systems, PAS replacement and right through to fully integrated EPR and IT outsourced deals, all of which is having a big impact on the Healthcare Informatics Recruitment market.

Not to mention the NHS reforms playing its part with various CSUs, CCGs and the NHS Commissioning Board needing to supplement their incumbent teams with ‘specialist’ resources and business as usual staff to cover the transition.  We’ve noticed an increased demand for experienced Commissioning & Business Intelligence candidates.

Our Healthcare division is playing a key role in providing experienced people to support a number of NHS organisations with the initial planning and implementation for large clinical IT change programmes, NHS Commissioning Transformation and through supplementing their business as usual teams whilst NHS employees are seconded to manage these changes.

People Source is a member of the Government Procurement Service (GPS) Non-medical, non-clinical procurement framework (formerly known as Buying Solutions & PASA) which allows us to provide candidates at agreed, fixed margins, offering excellent value.

It’s an exciting time to work in the eHealth arena.  The next 12 months is expected to deliver significant change and we are looking forward to supporting our clients both existing and new as they enter this period of flux.
