    Job description


    Role: Senior Product Design Engineer
    Location: Isle of Wight
    Salary: competitive

    A company based on the Isle of Wight are looking to hire a senior product design engineer that will be responsible for the specification, design, development and verification of electronic and mechanical components across our range of products.

    This is a crucial role and they are looking for a strong candidate who is able to work at and lead at Product Level, across all aspects of the Product Development Lifecycle.

    Focusing especially on Requirements Management and Requirements Verification as well as Product Level Qualification, including a strong understanding of EMC.

    The successful candidate should be a strong Product Leader and capable of making independent, timely design decisions that develop our products ready to release to market.


    Role requirements:

    *Managing Product level requirements management.
    *Developing Product level test and verification philosophy.
    *Managing Product level design aspects, including design for manufacturability, EMC, usability and maintainability.
    *Working closely with design teams to achieve necessary product compliance certification.
    *Creation of technical files to support compliance, e.g. CE mark certification.
    *Define and create Production test procedures.
    *Design and development of test solutions/jigs for low volume in-house Production.
    *Supporting early product development to New Product Introduction (NPI).
    *Module interface, interconnect and cabling definitions including Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
    *PCB schematic capture.
    *Working with external mechanical and PCB design contractors.


    Preferred experience:

    An ideal candidate would have a proven background and experience of more than 5 years in hardware and/or electro-mechanical engineering for embedded electronics preferably in the military market, with experience or understanding in the following areas:

    *Full product lifecycle, initial concept into NPI, and through to production.
    *Creating and compiling requirements, test specifications and documentation.
    *Product design and verification.
    *Ensuring a product is compliant against applicable standards.
    *Change Control Process relating to embedded product development.
    *Working directly with software development teams in planning and executing the developments.


    Knowledge in one or more of the following technologies as a practicing engineer:

    ?Embedded electronic and mechatronic hardware design. ?Analogue/digital video standards. ?JTAG test routines. ?FPGA or software development.


    Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate must hold or be able to obtain UK security clearance.
