    Technical Environments Lead / Immediate / Outside IR35 / 6 months + / £550-£600PD / Crewe

    Role Specification - Technical Environments Lead
    Role Purpose
    Our client is undertaking a challenging programme of business process and ICT system review and remediation to enable it to respond to changing and uncertain policy requirements within tight timescales.
    Our client is pursuing a strategy of building new services using Cloud services: IaaS, PaaS and SaaS commodity components (ie MS Dynamics CRM, 0365/Sharepoint, iPaaS, etc); and utilising existing platform services (ie Government as a Platform services such as gov.notify, gov.verify/Gateway & its replacement) etc.
    The role of Technical Environments Lead is to support the programme by ensuring that workstream and project delivery teams have appropriate access to the right cloud environments & resources, correctly configured, at the right time whilst ensuring that we achieve cost optimisation through proper controls on environment provisioning.
    Working within the Architecture & Technical function and reporting to the Architecture Technical Delivery Manager, the Technical Environments Lead will manage demand for environments and work with the Technical Architects, DevOps and Delivery Managers within the programme to assist them in defining their environment and commodity component requirements and liaise with the Architecture Domain leads, Cloud Portfolio team and external suppliers where necessary to ensure the timely provisioning of environments and components to support programme delivery.
    Activities and Deliverables
    *Establish and maintain an Environment Plan and Environment RAID documentation.
    *Aggregate requests for Environments and commodity platforms & work with cloud provisioning teams and commodity component delivery teams/domain architects to ensure timely delivery and correct configuration.
    *Ensure the designs of hosting and commodity elements of workstream/project environment requirements against established patterns and standards
    *Ensure conformance & consistency of DevOps practices and tooling with established patterns and standards
    *Work closely with Quality Assurance / Test function to ensure correctly configured environments are available at appropriate times. Ensuring requirements for access, security, data and availability are met.
    *Ensure that designs and provisioned environments conform to and are used within agreed Security standards, liaising with Security Architects.
    *Liaise with external suppliers managing legacy / enduring environments to coordinate access in a timely manner (around sprints etc)
    *Maintain cost control through effective budgeting, planning and management of provisioned environments.
    *Report cloud environment costs to the programme through the Finance PMO lead.
    *Report Environment plans, roadmaps & utilisation through Architecture Technical Delivery Manager
    *Such other duties and objectives as are commensurate with the role and as advised by the line manager (or other leader)
    Skills and Experience
    *Experience in Cloud infrastructure / hosting design & implementation (particularly Azure)
    *Good knowledge of DevOps practices and tooling
    *Experience of the use & implementation of SaaS/PaaS commodities (ie CRM (particularly MS Dynamics), EDRM (particularly Sharepoint), iPaaS/Integration tools etc)
    *Proven capability to manage the demand, planning and provisioning of environments
    *Working knowledge of service management & transition to operations practices
    *Ability to contribute to service and operations design and ensure design and procurement/delivery choices supports operational goals.
    *Working knowledge of Information Security practices pertinent to cloud-based solutions
    *Experience of working in a public sector environment is desirable
    *Existing Security Clearances (SC) would be desirable
